about

The importance of preserving history is often brought up as a reason to keep public displays of old statues of military leaders who lead the south in its effort to dismantle the United States so they could continue states’ rights such as slavery, and to fly the confederate battle flag which is offensive to those whose ancestors were enslaved. History is ignored when communities decide to demolish old beautiful buildings from the 19th century. Societal values are reflected in the way they talk about history and the things they decide to discard versus preserve. This song is mostly imagery from downtown Winchester, my hometown in the age of division.
